When selling in a customer not present environment, a business is very often exposed to the risk of fraud. Each payment method and each channel brings its own level of risk and hence exposure. In order to address these risks, controls are required.

Realex Payments are certified by both Visa and MasterCard to provide payer authentication services to online merchants. This enables merchants to avail of payer authentication with the minimum amount of technical change and disruption to existing Internet applications. Our payer authentication service is referred to as realmpi and allows merchants to eliminate their chargeback liability.
Fraud Scoring
Selling in a situation where the customer is not present can be risky - a merchant is never sure if the buyer is an the real cardholder.
To counter this, Realex Payments has developed a real time negative data and pattern checking scoring system that works at the point of sale. This allows a merchant to verify authenticity before committing to fulfilment.
Data checking, BIN range restrictions, pattern checking and data sanity checking are all included in our service.
Address Verification Service
Realex Payments can process address verification requests into compliant banks. This allows you to check the cardholders billing address with their issuing bank at the point of sale.
CVV/CVV2 Checking
The CVV/CVV2 is the three/four digit code on the back of the card and is to prove that your customer has the physical card with them. Realex Payments will also accept the CVV/CVV2 code and process this into compliant banks.
